Contaminated eggs: Two held for questioning

The two managers of Chickfriend, the Dutch company involved in the case of eggs contaminated with the pesticide Fipronil, were held for questioning on Thursday within the framework of the judicial inquiry launched into the affair. Chickfriend is one of two companies involved in; the other is the Belgian firm Poultry-Vision.

Martin van de B. and Mathijs IJ., the managers of Chickfriend, closed their Internet site and Facebook page a few days ago and seemed to have disappeared without a trace.

Eight premises were searched in the Netherlands and Belgium on Thursday. The searches were confirmed by the Prosecutor’s Office in Anvers. The sites searched in Belgium are in Campine and Eastern Flanders.
