The terrorism trial involving the Islamist group Shaira4Belgium started again on Wednesday, in front of the Antwerp Correctional Tribunal. It is still surrounded by strict security measures. Fouad Belkacem’s lawyers will talk to the public prosecutor and civil parties for the last time. The defendants will also speak one more time. Then the jury will go into deliberation. 46 defendants are charged with running or being part of terrorist group activities. The public prosecutor has requested the maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison for certain members of the group, among them Fouad Belkacem. Only nine accused appeared during the trial, the others are in Syria or have since died.
