National protest – 9 people taken in for questioning, including 7 dockworkers

9 people, including 7 dockworkers, are suspected of violence behaviour in the incidents which took place during the national protest of November 6th, and were taken in for questioning in various parts of the country by Brussels Capitale-Ixelles police on Wednesday morning. For one of the individuals concerned, the investigating judge issued an arrest warrant. This person was released after being heard. He confessed to the facts and apologised, according to the prosecutor’s office in Brussels. Close analysis of available recordings by CCTV, witness statements, and other information presented by the police, allowed them to identify the suspects.

2 other people who seem not to have been involved in the violence are being heard as witnesses.

The prosecutor will decide on the fate of the other 6 people on a case-by-case basis. They will either be processed through a fast-track procedure, or be summoned with immediate effect for aggravated cases of rebellion involving the carrying of a prohibited weapon, deliberately assaulting a policeman with premeditation, and damaging immovable property.
