Brussels Assize – Laurent Dhoine, guilty of involuntary manslaughter
Wednesday, 25 March 2015
The jury of the Brussels Assize court found Laurent Dhoine guilty of assault leading to involuntary manslaughter on Tuesday evening. He attacked his friend Marc Metayer, to make a robbery easier. His body was found on the 3rd of June 2010, in his flat in Berchem-Saint-Agathe. He suffocated after being handcuffed and gagged. The jury believed his defense that he did attack his friend, but did not want to kill him.
Marc Melayer, a 57 year old former European official, was found dead in his flat in Jean Monnet Park in Berchem-Saint-Agathe on the 3rd of June 2010.
His body was on his bed, his feet tied, hands tied behind his back, and gagged. He had died five days before, due to obstruction of his breathing.
The investigators found Laurent Dhoine after investigating the victim’s stolen bank cards.
