Brussels Assizes – three defendants found guilty of the murder of Michele Caputo

The Assizes court jury found three defendants – Marisa Presutti, her ex-husband Dominique Gibaldi and his brother, Antonio Gibaldi – guilty of the murder of Michele Caputo, the boyfriend of Marisa Presutti. They announced their verdict at 5am on Thursday morning. The victim’s skeleton was found in March 2010, buried in the garden of his house in Wemmel. Marisa Presutti, her ex-husband Dominique Gibaldi and his brother, Antonio Gibaldi, were all charged with premediated murder. Police believe the killing took place in February 2005, in Wemmel. The victim was Michele Caputo, Marisa Presutti’s boyfriend.

Dominique and Antonio Gibaldi confessed in 2010, during a rogatory commission in the South of France, which is where they live. This was 5 years after the events.

Dominique Gibaldi said that his ex-wife, Marissa Presutti, and his two children told him Michele Caputo had been violent towards them. He therefore decided to intervene. He went to Michele Caputo and Marissa Presutti’s house with his brother, Antonio Gibaldi, one evening in February 2005.

He claimed Michele Caputo became agitated, so he hit him in the mouth with a log, then strangled him with it.

He then buried the body in the garden with the help of his brother and Marissa Presutti.
