On Thursday, a 43 year old man from Liège was sentenced to 4 years in prison by the Liège Correctional Tribunal. He was convicted of paedophilic and zoophilic acts. He raped a six year old boy and had sexual relations with a dog. In January 2014, the defendant told paedophiles and zoophiles he was talking to over the Internet that he was going to abuse his six year old nephew. A few months later, he distributed images and films showing he had raped the boy.
The defendant admitted the crimes, whilst explaining he was at a troubled time in his life. The nurse also told his online contacts that he had had sexual relations with a Labrador. He had described his fantasies involving the dog to his different contacts, in precise detail. He then carried them out.
The defendant, a nurse, asked for various probational measures, combined with a suspended sentence. The Tribunal agreed, but only gave a very partially suspended sentence. He was sentenced to four years in prison, with probationary suspension for one year. He will do three solid years in prison.
The Prosecutor’s office had asked for a much harsher sentence, opposing the suspension. They can appeal the decision.
