A radical Imam from Verviers deported

The State Secretary for Asylum and Immigration, Theo Francken, has signed a deportation order for a radical Imam from Verviers. There may be others, the Sudpresse papers and Het Laaste Nieuws reported on Tuesday. “We received information from Homeland Security, which showed that there was a real danger to national security”, the State Secretary’s spokesman said. “Even though this person has never been convicted of anything, their file contains numerous elements that show he preaches hate and supports proselytism. He spoke out in support of Mohamed Merah, the Tunisian killer”.

“Tomorrow, he will receive an order telling him to leave the country in 30 days. He will then be handed over to Dutch authorities, who we are in close contact with”, the spokesman added. “This person will be immediately deleted from communal and national registers. His family can stay, but we think they will leave with him”.
