Three youths arrested after the death of a man in his fifties in Dilbeek

Three youths in their twenties, two brothers and their friend, were placed under arrest as part of the investigation into the death of a 57 year old man in Dilbeek. The victim died back in July. The man was seriously injured in his own home, and later succumbed to his injuries. The suspects were charged with violent theft leading to manslaughter and assault leading to manslaughter. Two of the three suspects have confessed, the Hal-Vilvorde Prosecutor’s office said on Saturday. The victim lived in a little manor house in Itterbeek, surrounded by a large estate, for which he was caretaker. He was also the driver for the family that owns the estate.

The man was found seriously injured on the 23rd of July, at the bottom of his stairs. The victim said he had fallen down the stairs. He was taken to hospital, but died from his injuries a week later.

Medical examinations showed his injuries couldn’t have been caused by a fall, which led to an investigation being opened. This led to an individual being arrested on Thursday evening. A second person handed themselves into police the next day, and a third person was arrested at their house. The three men will appear before the Brussels Council Chamber on Tuesday.
