Liège: a fugitive minor arrested a month after a car chase with police

A 17 year old from Liège was arrested on Friday and sent before the Liège youth judge, the Prosecutor’s office revealed on Saturday. Police had been looking for him since the 24th of July, after a car chase with police, between Waremme and Ans. The four other people who were in the vehicle at the time had already been taken into custody.

A burglary was reported in Waremme on the 24th of July. Five youths broke into a domestic garage to steal a car. Police spotted the vehicle soon after it was reported stolen. It was leaving Tongres and heading towards Liège. There was a car chase, during which one of the passengers pointed a gun at police. The weapon wasn’t fired. Four passengers were arrested, including an adult.

The fifth burglar, who had been wanted by police since the 24th of July, was arrested in Liège on Friday. The 17 year old from Liège had fled from the IPPJ in Baine-le-Comte. He has denied any involvement in the car theft. He appeared before a Liège youth judge.
