Two arrested for threats and attempted extortion in Dinant

A man and a woman, born in 1945 and 1986, were arrested and brought before an investigating magistrate on Tuesday evening. They are accused of physical threats with a weapon and attempted extortion in Dinant, revealed the prosecutor’s office in Namur.
The incident took place between the Pont d’Amour bridge and Quai Charles de Gaulle. Two perpetrators threatened a 40-year-old with a knife for no apparent reason and then ran away, at approximately 8:00pm. They tried to extort money from a 50-year-old by pointing a gun to her head a few minutes later. They then drove away in a Jaguar which was identified and stopped.
The two perpetrators are known to law enforcement for drug-related offenses and assault and battery. The gun was retrieved from the vehicle.
