Brussels Assises Court - Mehdi Kinali found guilty of murder and sentenced to 18 years

This Tuesday, Brussels Assises Court found Mehdi Kinali guilty of murdering one of his friends, Olivier Chapelle, and sentenced him to 18 years' prison.

Mehdi Kinali admitted that on October 13th, 2013, while he was drunk and under the influence of drugs, he stabbed his sidekick, Olivier Chapelle, several times with a long-bladed ceramic knife. The incident took place in Shaerbeek's Rue du Progrès when Olivier Chapelle was also drunk and under the influence of drugs.

The two men met around Brussels' Gare du Nord train station where both of them slept occasionally and took drugs and drank alcohol.

Mehdi Kinali explained that he attacked Olivier Chapelle because the latter had refused to give him one of the cans of beer the two had just bought together at a corner shop.
