Around 50 tonnes of drugs seized in Belgium last year

Around 50 tonnes of drugs were seized in Belgium last year, according to customs and federal police. La Dernière Heure reported on this story on Saturday.

Around 6 kilos of heroin, 16 tonnes of cocaine, 933 kilos of khat and 2 kilos of amphetamines were confiscated by customs in 2015. This is double the amounts of cocaine and amphetamines seized in 2014.

Federal police also seized 17.5 tonnes of cocaine, 121 kilos of heroin, 69 kilos of amphetamines, 9 kilos of MDMA, 933 kilos of khat and nearly 60,000 ecstasy pills.

This 50 tonnes comes from dismantled drugs trafficking rings, and checks at places like ports and airports.
