An examining judge is considering attempted murder in the sphere of knife attacks committed Monday at Uccle by a Philippine national aged 52, stated Tuesday the Prosecutor’s Office of Brussels. Comité P, on its part, initiated an investigation in order to determine whether the use of service weapons by public order forces was legitimate under the circumstances. The suspect has not yet spoken, given her health condition. The examining judge in charge of the case may extend her arrest for 24 additional hours or issue a default arrest warrant.
The suspect has no prior record with the local police of the Marlow area (Uccle, Auderghem, Watermael-Boitsfort). It is not yet clear whether she has records in other police zones or legal jurisdictions.
The occurrence took place Monday near 4:30 p.m.. For reasons yet unknown, the woman argued with several passengers on a bus on the road from Waterloo to Uccle, and she then attacked them with a knife. Two people were injured. The woman then got off the bus and injured a third person. The three victims had slight wounds and were taken to hospital.
Local police arrived on the scene and tried to control her. Police opened fire since she refused to obey their orders. The woman was wounded in the arm and torso, but her life is not in danger. The reasons for the aggressions are unknown, but according to the Prosecutor’s Office of Brussels, it is not an act of terrorism, but rather the acting of a person suffering from psychological distress.
