Police services made 13 mistakes or missed opportunities to find those behind the 13th of November Paris attacks before they happened. This is according to the final report from the P Committee, which De Tijd got a look at.
After the 13th of November attacks, the P Committee looked into what Belgian police services knew about the perpetrators. The Flemish paper said the final report is done, and reported on the content on Saturday.
It appears telephone data acquired by police in February 2015 shows Salah Abdeslam had contact with people suspected of terrorism. This data was not looked into due to lack of staff.
Also, in March last year, Spain asked Belgian services about one of Brahim Abdeslam’s trips. The Belgian police didn’t respond until after the attacks.
Information on kamikaze Bilal Hadfi was unused for six months as there were no investigators.
Finally, secret information about attacks in Western Europe organised by Abdelhamid Abaaoud was also kept by the Prosecutor’s office.
