The animal welfare organisation, Animal Rights, released new images of animal maltreatment on Thursday. A video was filmed secretly on an industrial chicken farm. The association denounces certain practices carried out on chicks.
The farm is located in Tielt, West Flanders, the same district in which Animal Rights attacked a slaughterhouse a few weeks ago.
The images broadcast on Thursday show cattlemen sorting out the chicks. When one of the animals is not considered suitable, it is thrown among the eggshells. Other chicks are drowned in a bucket of water or thrown alive in a waste container. The images were taken using hidden cameras.
The slaughterhouse in Tielt had temporarily closed its doors as a result of images showing pig abuse having gone public.
