The trial of Salah Abdeslam and Sofien Ayari at the Brussels Correctional Court will resume on Thursday, Presiding Judge Marie-France Keutgen indicated on Monday, just after 4.30 p.m., after adjourning the proceedings. The trial had originally been scheduled to take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
After Abdeslam’s lawyer, Sven Mary, asked for time to study the indictment against him and to prepare his defence with his client, who is incarcerated in the north of France, it was decided to avoid having the court renconvene on Tuesday for the remaining submissions by the parties.
This enables the state to save on a significant deployment of security measures for just a few hours.
Defence attorney Mary will deliver his submission on Thursday afternoon.
