Netherlands: Suspect held near Belgian border after car chase

Police in the Netherlands on Thursday held a suspect in the Dutch border area of Goirle, after a car chase that briefly passed through Belgium, according to the NOS public channel and other local media. The chase began after the officers found a suspicious van on an industrial plot in Tilburg. When police tried to apprehend the two occupants of the vehicle, they drove away through the woods in the direction of Goirle. After driving into a dead end, the two suspects fled the vehicle and ran away. Police then shot at them, wounding one.

The wounded person was taken to hospital while the other was still at large. He was being actively sought by police, with the help of a helicopter, tracker dogs and a forest ranger.
