Police officer shot in Spa: two Dutch suspects could be extradited to Belgium

On Friday, a tribunal in Amsterdam (Netherlands) ruled that two men who are suspected of being involved in a shooting in Spa on the 26th of August could be extradited to Belgium. Officer Amaury Delhez (38 years old) was shot and killed during the incident.

The two suspects, Cyril T. (35 years old) and Mark van den B. (38 years old), appealed against their extradition to Belgium on Friday. They both deny being involved in the incident but admit to having witnessed it. They claim that Cyril. T’s brother, 36-year-old Yvo, was the shooter.

The three men from Limburg were refused entry to a nightclub in Spa in the early hours of the 26th of August. There was an argument and one of the suspects pulled out a gun. The police were called and shooting started while the men were leaving in taxi. Officer Delhez was shot dead during the fracas.

The tribunal delivered their ruling on Friday as the case has had such a big impact.
