In a police car chase with a BMW on Friday morning in Genk, a man (51) was shot, tried to flee on foot, but died on the spot. Around 4:30 AM, a police chase with a BMW SUV started in Waterschei, after which shots were fired. Whether the driver of the BMW also shot at the police is not clear yet, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.
Due to the high speed, the driver lost control of the wheel and crashed into a tree. He managed to get out of the car and tried to flee on foot, but collapsed in a front yard where he died of his injuries.
The public prosecutor will conduct the investigation.
