Over 10,000 march in Antwerp against violence

Participants flocked to Antwerp on Sunday for the silent march against sexual and all other forms of violence. The march was organized in reaction to the death of Julie Van Espen. The 23-year-old student was killed by a reoffending rapist who also confessed.

The march began at 2.30 pm at Koningin Astridplein. According to police estimates, some 10,000 people were present.

Three of the victim’s friends took the initiative to organize this protest march against all forms of violence, in particular sexual violence.
