Child’s death in asylum centre - killers thought family was wealthy

Daniel El Alali, the 9-year-old whose lifeless body was found on 24 April in the Fedasil asylum centre in Broechem (Ranst, Antwerp province), was chosen by his assailants because they noticed he received regularly toys from abroad.

This information was developed today in Flemish newspapers Het Nieuwsblad and Gazet van Antwerpen.

The suspected kidnappers and murderers of the Palestinian-Lebanese boy acted out of greed, believing the family to have substantial financial resources. Justice does not communicate on this case, but the newspapers were informed through a reliable source.

The suspects reportedly observed that the boy regularly received new toys sent from abroad and that the family often bought new clothes.

The main suspects have made partial confessions, especially accusing each other, indicated the Nieuwsblad and Gazet.
