The Federal government will continue to implement its new policies. It has already put in place the first planned measures on economy and employment. These were the main subject of Charles Michel’s General Political Speech to the Chamber.
“Our reforms are getting results. We will continue down this path to get more positive results”, the Prime Minister said. His speech comes after a few days of tension within the Federal government. This tension is over the 3 billion euro budget and certain reforms, including job market reforms.
“We launched our program for a brighter future nearly 2 years ago. We did it because it was necessary. It’s easy to put social measures in place, especially if they will be paid for later. But we didn’t choose this”, Mr Michel said. He then detailed the 7 “strategic” long-term reforms (job markets, salaries, e-commerce, pensions, company tax etc). The Prime Minister will meet with social partners to discuss the measures over the next days.
