La Droite citoyenne announces Andre-Pierre Puget’s departure, and accuses him of false employment

On Friday, La Droite citoyenne announced that Walloon MP Andre-Pierre Puget has resigned, following conflict about his Parliamentary assistants. The radical right alliance has accused the independent MP (ex-PP) of falsely employing people and colluding with the extreme right. When interviewed by Belga, Mr Puget denied these allegations but didn’t want to comment further at this stage.

The President of the Droite citoyenne says one of the MP’s three Parliamentary assistants (he has two full-time, one part-tine), Aldo-Michel Mungo, only helps with Mr Puget’s political activities a few hours a week despite being full-time. They also said he wrote for an extreme right website, Boulevard Voltaire. Mr Mungo told Belga it was founded by Robert Ménard.

“The second does no actual work, apart from driving the MP’s car after alcohol-fuelled evenings. The MP has admitted that the assistant really works on the MP’s private entrepreneurial projects, including a drone piloting school. The third part-time assistant, officially a secretary, has not been seen to do anything. Their only qualification is being the partner of the first. None of the assistants are party members”, claimed La Droite citoyenne.

The party said it had told the MP to stop “misusing public money” and sack the three people concerned. “MP Puget chose to resign rather than adhere to the law”.

La Droite citoyenne’s political office announced it planned to inform the President of the Walloon Parliament about what it viewed as serious offences. It could be dealt with judicially.

Mr Puget denied the allegations when interviewed by Belga. He criticised what he saw as a desire to “politically break” him by weaving a “web” of lies. He refused to comment further at this time.
