An aerial parade and its rehearsal will temporarily disrupt airspace

The arrival of Donald Trump in Brussels should not directly affect Belgian airspace on Wednesday. On the other hand, an air show on Thursday and its rehearsal the day before will disrupt the traffic of the planes for 30 to 40 minutes. Delays are therefore expected for scheduled flights in the late afternoon on Wednesday and Thursday.

As a security measure, the time of arrival of the American president's Air Force One has not been unveiled but it is expected that Donald Trump will be landing in Belgium on Wednesday in the late afternoon. "Its arrival will have no impact on air traffic passagers because the airspace will not really be closed", Belgian Alain Kniebs, spokesman for Belgocontrol told Belga.

On the other hand, parades of military aircraft will disrupt the airspace in the late afternoon on Wednesday and Thursday. Indeed, on the occasion of the special meeting of the heads of state and governments of the countries of the Alliance on Thursday, seven combat and transport planes from eight allied countries will fly at very low altitude (800 feet, 250 meters) over the suburbs of the capital. On Wednesday, a rehearsal of the parade will also take place at the same time, at 17:27, according to consistent reports by several sources.

"These parades will have an impact on traffic at Brussels-Zaventem airport since the airspace will be closed for about 40 minutes, so there will be no landing or take-off over the capital as well as the Brussels-Saint-Trond and Brussels-Namur axes, where military aircraft will start training. In addition to delays in flights to and from Brussels Airport, delays of about ten minutes are also expected at the airport of Charleroi", stresses Alain Kniebs.
