Ecolo and the Greens have co-signed a bill proposition they will submit to the Chamber. It includes the ready to use “special climate law” that was drawn up with the help of French-speaking and Dutch-speaking universities. This was announced by the Ecolo president Jean-Marc Nollet on Sunday, while appearing on the program “Ce n’est pas tous les jours dimanche” on RTL-TVi.

“We have submitted a bill and now it’s up to the main parties to decide”, Mr Nollet said. He said there has to be a vote on the bill before the elections in May.

“We could have a two-thirds majority: young people want commitment. Let’s vote in this bill, which has been submitted by scientists”, he said.

To deal with the urgency of climate change, a dozen university professors and researchers specialised in constitutional law and the environment submitted a ready to use “special climate law” to the Chamber on Friday. The bill not only raises Belgian targets but also applies the principles of social justice and integrity.
