The Brussels headquarters of far-right party Vlaams Belang was vandalised overnight, prompting the party's chairman to denounce the "tolerant left" as he shared the news on Tuesday.

The offices of the party, located in Saint-Josse's Place Madou, were completely daubed in what appears to be red paint.

Pictures posted by party chairman Tom Van Grieken on Twitter show the entryway, the door and the floor were all smeared by the vibrant red paint.

The windows of the adjacent businesses appear to have been mostly spared.

While the perpetrators left no mark or signal behind, Van Grieken took to Twitter to call out the "hate and intolerance" of left-wingers.

"When there are no more arguments [left]," he tweeted. "In practice, hate and intolerance always come from the 'tolerant' left."

Van Grieken's message said that it was not the first time the party's headquarters had been the subject of an act of vandalism, but said that such acts only "made us more motivated!"
