High concentrations of ozone were measured on Monday and the European information threshold of 180 ?g / m3 was exceeded at a measuring station in Flanders, reported the Interregional Environment Agency (CELINE) on Tuesday. Air quality will improve significantly over the next few days, the agency said.

The population must be informed when the threshold of 180 ?g / m3 is exceeded. “The highest concentrations have been measured in the north-eastern part of the country”, the agency continues. The maximum hourly concentrations in Flanders were 185 ?g / m3 in Bree, 135 ?g / m3 in Wallonia’s Herstal and 150 ?g / m3 in Berchem-Sainte-Agathe in Brussels.

On Tuesday and over the following days, it will be significantly cooler with temperatures below 25 degrees. “Air quality will improve significantly with ozone concentrations that will show normal values ??for this time of year”, adds CELINE.
