The low-cost airline Ryanair has said it will keep about 15 routes active over the coming week, it announced on Wednesday. The route between Brussels and Dublin is one of them.

More than 90% of the Irish company's fleet will be grounded in the coming weeks due to flight bans or restrictions put in place by most EU Member States following the coronavirus pandemic.

"We are all working with EU Governments to try to keep some minimum flight links open for emergency reasons, even though the passenger loads on these flights will be very low, said Ryanair."

According to the company, these are "essential connections to and from Ireland and to and from the UK". Many of these routes are between the British Isles, but there will also be flights from Dublin to Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin and Lisbon, and from London to Berlin, Budapest and Eindhoven, among others.
