Google will conform to the Belgian law on the protection of privacy. The American giant said it agreed with the principal of the measure, De Morgen reported on Thursday. It was quoting the president of the Privacy Commission, Willem Debeuckelaere. Google has started talks with several European countries over the last few months. According to Mr Debeucklaere, there have been some agreements. The company has said it is “ready to adapt to different legislation on privacy, including that in place in Belgium”, he explained.
The American giant will be made to be more transparent, and no longer have access to its user’s data without their explicit permission. The Google spokesman for Belgium, Tineke Meijerman, has neither denied or confirmed the agreement. She pointed out that the company had already made a lot of effort when it came to transparency.
