RMB – the advertising department of RTBF – is looking to offload Vike, its digital video platform, Le Soir reported Wednesday. It was presented as the Belgian alternative to Youtube. Vike was launched last September. Jean-Paul Philippot, president of RMB’s CA and the boss of RTBF, has asked Yves Gérard, the delegate administrator, to find someone to take it over before the 20th of May. If he can’t, Vike will be shut down.
The reasons given are economic: slow start, technical problems and lack of users. Vike currently hosts 3,500 videos.
