Belgians lost nearly a billion euros (964 million) through gambling in 2013, according to a report by the commission that regulates the sector. The report was published on Wednesday, and Le Soir spoke about it on Thursday. The amount lost was calculated by adding together the turnover for casinos and arcades, and subtracting what players won. In the report, the Gambling Commission (CJH) also says that the figure should be higher, as the results for eight betting license holders (out of 35) were not included.
If we add 570 million euros for the National Lottery, which is the figure left after turnover profit, more than 1.5 billion euros was lost gambling.
