FrieslandCampina will take over the Belgian mozzarella producer Fabrelac, which is based in Bree. The Dutch company announced the takeover on Wednesday. It is not known how much they have bought it for. FrieslandCampina will now enter the flourishing mozzarella market. Fabrelac can produce a maximum of 30 million kilos of mozzarella a year. The company also produces whey by-products, cream, etc.
The takeover still has to be approved by competition authorities. Fabrelac was founded in 1993. The company employed around thirty people at the end of last year.
