There were unfortunately no prizes on Thursday night for the young Belgian entrepreneurs attending the 2014-2015 European ‘Company of the Year Competition’ finals. German mini-business “Rauteck” was crowned winner ahead of “Simple +” (Latvia) and “Graffiti” (Israel) tweeted JA Europe, the contest organiser. In May, mini-business Wak White from Notre-Dame des Champs in Uccle walked away with the top award at the French-speaking contest organised by NPO “Les jeunes entreprises” (Young Businesses), qualifying it for the European final. 15-strong Wak White offers non-chemical teeth whitening using the root of the Salvadora Persica shrub.
Flanders was represented by Tapalo, a business set up by 5 pupils from Bruges’ St-Leon college. The company manufactures small bright-coloured lids for glasses to stop someone secretly spiking your drink on a night out.
A total of 37 mini-businesses took part in this year’s European final.
