Between July and September, consumers spent 2.01 billion euros online, including 19.4 million worth of purchases. The e-commerce market alone represents 14% of the total market expenditure in Belgium, according to figures published by the BeCommerce Market Monitor.
"Some 6.57 million Belgian consumers have made a purchase online during the past quarter. This represents no less than 71% of the Belgian population (aged over 15 years), of which 3.8 million Flemings and 2.8 million Walloons, who spent respectively 1.17 billion and 840 million euros online for 10.9 and 8.5 million purchases", says the online trade federation. Before concluding: "Given the current results, the future is very promising" and the year could be looped on "more than 8 billion euros in online spending, which is a fantastic result."
