Optician chain Hans Anders changes ownership

The Dutch optician chain, Hans Anders, will change ownership. The investment fund, 3i, will pay about 200 million euros to buy it from the other investment firms, Alpha and Alpinvest, it was reported Monday morning on the website, De Tijd.

A year ago, Alpha and Alpinvest already tried to sell Hans Anders, without success. By the end of 2016, the two owners of the chain had made another attempt. In the meantime, they had also converted a loan of 107 million euros to the company into shares, which both cleared the balance of the company and made it more attractive for potential buyers.

Hans Anders has a total of 456 sales outlets in four European countries: 253 in the Netherlands, 105 in Belgium (nine of which opened last year), 62 in France and 36 in Sweden. "We want to continue the pace of growth in Belgium in recent years", said the investment fund, 3i. The chain will also carry out a renovations of existing outlets or move to better locations.
