Google is investing an additional 250 million euros in its data centre in Saint-Ghislain, where a third building is to be inaugurated in mid-2019, the U.S. giant announced on Thursday at an event attended by Prime Minister Charles Michel. Google also unveiled its new solar energy plant, which required a three-million-dollar investment, making the Saint Ghislain data centre the first in the world to be equipped with such technology.

The extension of the site brings Google’s total investments in Belgium to one billion euros. The company has 300 full-time staff in Saint-Ghislain and generates about 1,000 indirect jobs.
