Minister Ducarme moves to help independent entrepreneurs in meat sector

Independent entrepreneurs affected by the partial closure of the Veviba company will now be able to postpone payment of their 2018 social security contributions by a year, without facing any additional fees, following a decision by the minister in charge of independents, Denis Ducarme. “The meat sector is naturally impacted by the Veviba affair and the illicit practices of its operators”, Ducarme commented in a press release. “For the independent entrepreneurs, I’m immediately putting in place three social measures allowing the affected independents to benefit from facilities for the payment of their social contributions.”

They can now apply for an additional year to pay their contributions for the four quarters of the year 2018. The worst affected sectors will be recognized as crisis sectors, which will allow the social security contributions to be adapted in a more flexible manner.

All applications for waivers of social security contributions will be handled by the Commission on Social Security Waivers so that these requests can all be handled in the same way.
