Coca-Cola, the world soft drinks giant, is reported to be developing a new drink at its lab in Anderlecht in Brussels. The new drink, called AdeZ, is aimed at the breakfast drinks market. Coca-Cola has owned the brand-names Ades since last year, short for Alimentos de Semilla, meaning foods based on seeds. The new drink is said to be plant-based, containing no lactose or added sugars.
The brand is successful in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. The product for the Belgian market consists of six flavours, based on seeds, nuts and fruit.
The new brand will extend Coca-Cola’s drinks portfolio, which aside from its flagship cola drink and its variants, Sprite and Fanta, also includes fruit juices (numerous varieties of Minute Maid), ice tea (Nestea), sports drinks (Powerade), water (Kinley) and coffee (Full Throttle). The new AdeZ range is expected to be in the shops next month.
