Deliveroo achieved a turnover of 8.9 million euros in Belgium in 2017, an increase of more than 200% over the preceding year (2.6 million euros), the food delivery service reported on Tuesday. The company said it planned to pursue its growth in Belgium and expand into new cities in the next 18 months, although it did not say which ones.
With an operating profit of 988,000 euros last year, Deliveroo "is in the process of becoming profitable in Belgium,” the food platform stated. In 2017, its parent company invested in its various markets, mainly to “make the application function more effectively”.
Thanks to a new algorithm, the company – which raised 482 million dollars in November 2017 and was valued at more than two billion dollars – said it improved delivery speeds by 20%.
Thirty-nine persons work in Deliveroo’s Belgian offices, not including delivery staff, up from 19 in 2016.
