Electric SUV assembled in Brussels to be launched in September in San Francisco

The Audi E-tron, an electric SUV assembled in Brussels, will be launched officially in San Francisco on the 17th of September, its German manufacturer has announced. The Audi factory in Forest has been preparing for the mass production of the E-tron for years. The new model will replace the A1, which has been assembled there for eight years now.

Brussels will be the site of the only factory in the world that exclusively manufactures this luxury SUV. The price of the vehicle will start at 80,000 euros and it will compete directly with the Tesla Models S and X.

The E-tron was originally to have been presented in Brussels at an Audi Summit, but that idea was scrapped with the arrival of the manufacturer’s new CEO, Bram Schot, who preferred to launch it in its target market, the United States.

The E-tron can already be reserved with a deposit of 2,000 euros.  Deliveries are scheduled to begin next year.
