BCE to present new 100 and 200-euro banknotes in September

The European Central Bank will present officially new 100 and 200-euro banknotes on 17 September, it announced Friday. These will be in circulation as of the first semester of 2019. The 100 and 200-euro banknotes are the last in the “Europa” series. As for the 500-euro banknote, it will no longer be produced, following an ECB decision.

Since 2013, the different euro bills have been renewed, especially in view of improving the various security devices. The former banknotes remain valid and are progressively removed from circulation.

The new 5-euro banknote was launched in 2013, the 10 euro in 2014, and the 20 euro in 2015, whereas the new denomination of 50 euros was presented in 2017.
