“Black Friday”, the post-Thanksgiving end of year sale that originated in America, has led to an increase in electronic transactions in Belgium too. This was confirmed by payment company Worldline on Friday.
Worldline had recorded 5.8 million transactions at 5pm on Friday, a 12% increase compared to the previous Friday. Worldline recorded 5.6 million transactions at the same time last year, in physical stores and online.
“We have noticed that Belgians are making the most of Black Friday promotional offers more and more. Traders and consumers now consider it one of the most important sales of the year”, Eric Spapens, the marketing director of Worldline, said in a press release.
