Strikes by Ryanair personnel will start in Portugal on Wednesday, and while Belgian staff are not taking part, the country's airports could still see results.

According to the CNE as quoted by La Libre Belgique, the airline company's management has asked staff based in Belgium to fill in for striking Portuguese hostesses and stewards on several flights, effectively overruling the strike, the union complained.

The CNE criticised Ryanair "for importing the dispute in Portugal into Belgium." "We cannot accept this situation and we are calling upon our members to boycott these flights," the Belgian union explained, while stipulating it "will cover any employee refusing to break this strike in Portugal."

The CNE is also calling "urgently" for a settlement to be reached in front of the Joint Appeals Board.
