Launched in December 2012, the mobile application “STIB Controle” allows its users to share information on controls that are carried out on the public transportation. It has already been downloaded over 30 000 times. The developer behind the app, Olivier Kaisin explains that the application includes the transportation lines and the stops in Brussels whereby anyone noticing a control can directly signal it via the app. The other users can take notice of this alert and confirm if it is a real control or not. The information is also transmitted to the twitter account and the application’s website.
The site has received up until today 120 000 unique visitors, of which 10 000 regularly consult it every week.
