The Iranian Supreme Guide criticises Europeans on the day of Mrs Mogherini’s visit

The Iranian Supreme Guide, the ayatollah Ali Khamenei, criticised Europeans through his Twitter account on Tuesday. It was the day the head of the European Union, Federica Mogherini, visited Iran for the first time. “Europeans caused the biggest wars in history, which killed a lot of people and hurt us too”, the guide wrote on his Twitter account. “I have read the history of Europe. Europeans caused two devastating World Wars last century. Two World Wars in less than a century”, he added. “It was after these wars that the dangerous and deadly Zionist stronghold was created, (Israel) in the heart of the Muslim world”, he tweeted.

He wrote these words on the same day Mrs Mogherini visited Teheran. She was there to discuss how to implement the nuclear agreement between Iran and the major nuclear powers (US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany), which was signed on the 14th of July.

The agreement limits Iran’s civil nuclear program, in exchange for the progressive and reversible lifting of international sanctions imposed on its economy since 2006.

Ayatollah Khamenei criticised the “arrogance” of the United States shortly after the 14th of July. However, the nuclear negotiations and agreement couldn’t have happened without his authorisation.
