Around 25,000 people visit the European Institution open day

The European Institution open day on Saturday was extremely successful, with around 25,000 visitors. That’s 7,000 more than last year, the organisers said. This is the 25th open day, and it focused on the 60th anniversary of the Rome Treaty signing and the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus program.

The European Parliament, European Council, European Union Council, European Commission, Economic and Social Commission, Regions Committee and European Service for Exterior Action all took part in this open day.

But that’s not all:  the European House of History – a new museum – used the opportunity to open its doors for the first time. The museum itself got 3,000 visitors. The new European Council and European Union Council headquarters, known as “Europa”, got 7,500 visitors.

There were numerous activities, performances and concerts happening at different places in the European quarter. The fifth Fête du Pain, which involved professionals from all four corners of Europe, was held on the Schuman roundabout.
