Kim Clijsters says she feels ready to compete in the US Open, which begins next week in New York.
The former world No. 1, who returned to competition this year, has suffered from abdominal pain in recent weeks. “My stomach is doing a lot better,” Clijsters told WTA Insider.
Clijsters had taken part in World Team Tennis, a team tennis tournament, but had to withdraw after some impressive victories. She then skipped the Cincinnati tournament.
Clijsters will face Russia's Ekaterina Alexandrova (WTA 27) in the first round of the US Open. “At WTT I felt my level had risen to where I wanted to. I felt like I played really good tennis. I hope I can bring that tennis to the games here."
