Marc Wilmots: suffered death threats before match against Wales

Red Devils manager, Marc Wilmots, suffered death threats by text, two days before the Red Devils played their match against Wales. This is reported in La Dernière Heure, quoting information from Het Nieuwsblad. “We are taking this very seriously," indicates his lawyer, Walter Van Steenbrugge.

Wilmots' lawyer issued legal proceedings in France. The text came from a Dutch telephone number. The Dutch police immediately conducted an operation in Veghel, where one Stephan V.D.V was considered by police as the man whose GSM was used to send the threats.

The latter denies this and correspondingly has issued proceedings for alleged telephone hacking against an unknown individual, merely labelled X. The investigators have now focused their inquiry upon Stephan's girlfriend, a certain Jet V.D.G.

“Everything indicates that Mr Wilmots was the victim of a fiction perpetrator. She claims that my client sent her texts. However, this is absolutely untrue,” maintains the manager's lawyer.

The Dutch police investigations are still ongoing.
