Anderlecht pulls off draw against Rostov in third round qualification for UEFA Champions League
Nothing ventured, nothing gained - a draw for Anderlecht against FC Rostov at 2-2.

R.S.C Anderlecht produced a satisfying result (2-2) against the Russians in the team FC Rostov during their third round qualification UEFA Champions League match yesterday (Tuesday) at the Olimp-2 stadium.
A draw makes it possible for the Brussels team to dream of qualifying for the decisive game in the competition. The Anderlecht goals were scored by Sofiane Hanni and Youri Tielemans.

R.S.C Anderlecht did not take long to react in the match and quickly settled into the game, through its new recruit this summer Sofiane Hanni. The Algerian international took advantage of a low-shot corner smashed by Steven Defour to give Dzhanaev no chance with a right-footed finish (in the third minute, 0-1). The advantage was short-lived since Rostoc succeeded in equalizing less than a quarter of an hour later, following a free kick repelled by Roef but instantly resumed by the Iranian Ezatolahi. This evened the score for both teams (minute 16, 1-1).

As they had during the first half, Anderlecht intensified the pressure, their advantage coming from a powerful right-foot drive skillfully engineered by Youri Tielemans (in minute 52, 1-2).

Whilst the Brussels team were well their way to victory, the referee, the Italian Luca Banti awarded them a penalty for a minor error by Steven Defour. The penalty was converted by Poloz after an hour of play (minute 60, 2-2). Rostov did give Anderlecht a final gift opportunity, but the attack by Ezatolahi struck Davy Roef’s crossbar (in the 77th minute).

The return match will take place on Wednesday August 3rd at the Constant Vanden Stock stadium in Anderlecht.
