David Cherop wins the Antwerp marathon, Van Schuerbeeck come third

Ugandan David Cherop won the Antwerp marathon on Sunday. He crossed the finish line in the Grand Place in Antwerp after 2 hours and 17.12 minutes. He beat his countryman Vitalis Kwemoi by five seconds (2 hours and 17.27 minutes). Willem Van Schuerbeeck got third place (2 hours and 17.55 minutes). Régis Thonon came fifth (2 hours and 20.58 minutes).

Around 2,000 runners took part, including Antwerp mayor Bart De Wever. The 32nd Antwerp 10 Miles race was later that same day. The finish line was on the left bank of the Escaut. Around 40,000 people took part in both the Antwerp 10 Miles and the marathon.
